Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

changing your thoughts to change your life

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you recognize and alter negative thinking patterns. Thoughts, feelings, and actions influence one another, and by changing thoughts, you are able to change your feelings and actions as well. CBT encompasses a wide range of techniques and styles, all stemming from the power of thought.

CBT can be used to treat a variety of struggles such as:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • OCD

  • Substance Use Disorders

  • PTSD

  • Relational Problems

  • Eating Disorders

What happens during a CBT session?

Once you and your therapist decide that CBT is the best treatment option for you, together you will analyze and discuss prominent patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and actions. You and your therapist may review any unhelpful thinking patterns or distorted cognitions present and review ways to combat them. CBT often involves homework which may include tracking thinking patterns, worksheets, or practicing implementation of tools discussed in therapy.
