questions you may have about therapy

At Inner Solace Therapy, we specialize in working with clients who have experienced trauma. Trauma is an all-encompassing term used to describe any deeply distressing or disturbing experience. However, the therapeutic modalities that Inner Solace Therapy incorporates can also be utilized for a wide variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression. Additionally, Inner Solace works with couples that need guidance to strengthen their relationship.
*Clients must reside in Texas while receiving therapy with Inner Solace Therapy.

The consultation appointment allows you and your therapist to see if Inner Solace Therapy is the best fit for your current needs. During this call, we will discuss your reason for seeking therapy and explain the therapeutic process at Inner Solace Therapy. At that time, you will be able to ask any questions you may have. If for any reason you or the therapist feel that your needs may be better addressed by a different therapy approach, we will provide you with other referral sources upon your request.

Therapy is highly individualized to your experience and current struggles. There is no one blueprint for what your therapy will look like. You and your therapist will agree upon goals and create a treatment plan that will meet your needs. This plan can be adjusted as needed throughout the course of treatment. How many sessions you need, the topics discussed, and treatment modalities utilized are all customized to support your journey toward healing.

Prior to your first appointment, you will fill out paperwork that helps your therapist gain an understanding of your current situation and background. First, your therapist will review some of this paperwork as well as important policies such as confidentiality with you. Then, you and your therapist will discuss what brings you into therapy, your background, and your personal history. The first appointment may feel like you don’t know where to start or what to say but your therapist will guide you through the process and help you feel at ease. The purpose of the first appointment is to understand your history, assess your current situation, and create a plan and goals for treatment.

To conduct online therapy, a link to the secure video service used by Inner Solace Therapy will be emailed to you prior to your appointment. During sessions, it is important that you find a private space with a secure internet connection in order to protect your privacy and ensure the session is not interrupted due to technical difficulties. A laptop or desktop is recommended but if a cell phone is used, it is suggested that it is on a steady foundation. Online therapy is convenient, confidential, and secure. Additionally, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy.

YES! All sessions with Inner Solace Therapy are conducted using a secure video service. Our therapists conduct sessions in a secure and private office space and we expect our clients to also find a private and secure location in which to have sessions to maintain their confidentiality and privacy. Licensed professionals are required to maintain confidentiality with clients. Rare exceptions to confidentiality are made if the safety of the client or someone else is at risk. Your therapist will discuss these exceptions with you.

Inner Solace Therapy is not contracted with any insurance companies. However, as an out-of-network provider, Inner Solace Therapy can provide you with a superbill you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement or for contribution to your deductible. Inner Solace Therapy is not responsible for contacting insurance to determine what, if any, reimbursement will be provided. Some clients may prefer to avoid going through insurance as your insurance company will require information such as any mental health diagnosis, which may be on your medical records and qualify as a pre-existing condition in the future. As a provider that is not contracted with insurance companies, Inner Solace Therapy is able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality for clients as we do not have to disclose mental health information to any outside parties.

We value our client’s time and hope to encourage our clients to practice self-care and boundaries. If you do not cancel an appointment within 24-hours, the full amount for the therapy session will be charged.

Therapy can help you process your feelings, improve your ability to manage and cope with challenges, decrease feelings of anxiety and sadness, work through past trauma, and improve your ability to communicate with others. It is an investment in you and a beautiful act of self-compassion.
