Cognitive Processing Therapy

helping you heal & move forward

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps you challenge distorted thoughts about yourself and the world stemming from traumatic or stressful experiences. CPT goes through a specific process to help change negative thoughts using worksheets and exercises. CPT generally takes 12 weeks, although this can be customized to meet your individual needs.

Cognitive Processing

Therapy is useful for:

  • PTSD

  • Traumatic Grief and Loss

  • Trauma

  • Survivors of Violent Crimes

What is a CPT session like?

CPT involves several phases: education regarding trauma and the associated impact, formal processing of the trauma along with modification of cognitive distortions, and reinforcement of skills learned throughout the course of treatment. CPT is homework intensive and involves completing worksheets and assignments outside of your sessions in order to make progress. CPT is ideal if you are seeking for a thorough, yet short-term treatment option.
